The Ark of the Covenant was a very important object in the Old Testament (2 Samuel 6) and when we study it using typology, we see that it points to a great reality in the future.
The Ark of the Covenant contained the manna, Aaron’s staff, and the tablets of the Commandments (Hebrews 9:1-4). What did these objects signify?
The Sacred Objects in the Ark
The manna fed the Israelites when they wandered in the desert for 40 years (Exodus 16). It was a bread like substance that fell from the sky to feed the starving Israelites.
Jesus Christ referred to this manna when He said He was the true bread of life (John 6:22-59).
Aaron’s staff represented his family’s role as priests to God (Numbers 17-18).
Christ is the new, final and perfect high priest to God (Hebrews 9:11-14).
The Commandments represented the word of God.
Christ is the Word of God (John 1:1).
The Ark of the Covenant

We can see that what is contained in the Ark of the Covenant are the very things that point to Christ. If the contents of the Ark of the Covenant point to Christ, who does the Ark itself point to?
The only person who has ever carried Christ within her was Mary. Therefore, Mary is the true Ark of the Covenant.
This is confirmed in Revelation 11:19 and Revelation 12:1. When the Ark of the Covenant is seen in God’s temple in Heaven, immediately, a woman appears out of Heaven who is pregnant with the Son of God. This woman is associated with the Ark. And the only woman pregnant with the Son of God was Mary. Therefore, Mary is the true Ark of the Covenant.
